Review: The Best Drink... Ever!

I want you to properly picture this so close your eyes. Wait! I suppose that might contradict the whole reading... thing. Alright, never mind the eye closing. Just look at the picture to the side. Mind you, I'll be describing a can, and this picture is of a bottle... alright compromise. One eye on it, and one imagining.

It's a hot summer day. The can comes out from the freezer, where it has stayed long enough to start ice crystals forming inside, but not so long as to risk popping the can. The can is pink and humble in it's design. Your fingertips stick to the can as it freezes the moisture, for the moment making you and the can one being.

Nails sliding under the tab, pulling it up. There's a sudden rush of gases being released, creating an unmistakable sound. The cold air mixes with the heat of the day creating a vapor rising out of the mouth. Little driblets dance merrily, carried up by the carbonation. Then the smell hits you. Ambrosia. The sweet scent of raspberry mingled with the ginger ale.

The cold of of the metal meets your lips as a smooth coldness runs into your mouth. It feels like like glitter sized pieces of crystal rocking around. It's smooth and light, like running through a trickling creak on a breezy day. The flavors are subtle at first, building slowly. It's fruity but not overbearing; crisp with just enough bite. It's almost too good to swallow. But you do. As it slides down your throat you feel it's magic embrace, telling you it's always been waiting for you.

Now picture you moved away from an area that sold this drink and it's been 9 years since you had any. Sure it exists in the US, but not anywhere you've ever lived. You've only had it in Canada. And somehow you know that where it is sold, people are walking by it and saying, "meh, I'll pass tonight, maybe another day."

But what if there isn't another day? Huh? What if there is no other day?

  7. I have to get me some of that raspberry ginger ale... My wife is allergic to raspberries, so it would be all mine.... Do they sell it in California? I'm going to go check!

  10. I'm sure it's great, but I thought raspberries were red. Why is it pink? A combination color from the ginger ale and raspberry? Actually, why the hell am I even curious about this?

  11. You're curious because deep down you know this is the drink you've been wanting your whole life. One taste and you wouldn't question why the color is pink.
