Review: The last time I saw you - by Jack Dawson

Yeah, so what the heck?

I thought we had this great connection and then you just disappeared. Was it all just a lie? When we met on that cruise, we danced until the morning with our drunken Irish friends. We ran up and down the length of the ship enjoying the way the cold air felt hitting our cheeks. I'd never opened up to anyone before like I did with you. So what happened?

That first night I saw you, you were thinking of killing yourself, do you remember? I talked you out of it and I ended up getting wrongly accused of my intentions. Your jerk fiancĂ© was there and he was practically ready to throw me overboard. After that you tried to deny the magic between us, but it wasn't long till you found yourself in my arms.

In short time I had you permanently etched in my mind and my book. You told me you loved me and I having never really known love myself confessed the same to you. And then when all hell broke out because the ship began to sink, we traded lives, saving each other from doom. I got you to as safe a place as I could and there we had our last goodbye.

Here's what I don't understand: where did you go? There I am freezing my butt off in the icy water and you look right at me and say, 'I'll never let go,' and then you turn around and do exactly the opposite! Did you think I liked being left there while you got into a boat and sailed off? I actually started to sink before I realized what was happening. I really just don't understand you. Maybe you weren't the women I thought you were. Any women that can make love to you and then leave you alone in an ocean of doubt and Atlantic is a women that I'm probably better off without.

I guess Fabrizio was right about you.

(this narrative brought to you courtesy of watching the second half of Titanic the other night.)

  1. You magnificantly creative bastard. You HAD me hooked like a trout on a fly till I got to the end. I believed in your love and it was all a lie. For shame brother...FOR SHAME!

  3. Ooh! This is fun. Do more of these.

How funny that Ckal is the one who had commented on this post from your early days. As I was reading it, I was thinking about him.

  4. "I was thinking about him."

Really should have proofed that first, not the way I meant it, not even a little bit.

Okay fine, but just a teensy weensy little bit.

  5. TS - - - you are very much the wit. I was pretty sure there was going to be a "catch" at the end, but didn't see "The Titanic" coming.

    Maybe because it sank?
