Let me put songs in your head Vol. 11

I'm not really into rap. It's just not my thing. I find most of it to be repetitious, unimaginative, and often just obnoxious. That said, I do try to stay open minded to all forms of music. So yes, I even like some rap. Here are a couple of good ones, as well as a non-rap song, since I always try to provide an alternative to the theme.

Click the Artist/Title to be swept away to a video.

The Streets - Dry Your Eyes - You might think with a name like The Streets it's a group, but no, that's the stage name of Mike Skinner. He's a British rapper, and a fantastic one at that. This song is off the concept album 'A Grand Don't Come for Free.' The whole album is one long story that tells the tale of a guy who loses a thousand pounds, loses faith in his friends, meets a girl, and well, I wouldn't want to tell the whole story. It's often humorous, and very well written. This song however is a sadder note on the album, and despite the language quite beautiful. Though actually this is the single version, so the expletives have been deleted.

Lupe Fiasco - Daydreamin' - A very creative artist Lupe Fiasco produces what I like to think of as Intelligent Rap\hip hop. He tends to write outside the lines of what his contemporaries write. This song is an ironic take on the way artists represent themselves versus how the world actually works. Plus it's catchy as heck.

The Pinker Tones - The Whistling Song - Ok, prepare to hate me for this one. I can't tell you much about the group, other than that they're from Spain, and have hit big in certain markets. I have never bothered to listen to anything else by them. I found this song in the free mp3 section on Amazon. It is... well I'll put it this way, I've made people listen to it, and by the end of the song, not only were they singing along, they were hating me for it. Especially when it didn't leave their heads the rest of the day. It's pretty bad, but in the best of ways. I'm sure you'll love it, but more to the point, love sharing it with others.
