Let me put songs in your head vol. 8

That weekend went by way to fast didn't it? (Note: I wrote this sentence before the weekend started). I had a relaxing time. (I wrote this after an afternoon in the DMV, not sure why I lied). But now it's time for a new week, and all the pressures that come with Monday. (Just think, while you're starting your work week, I'm writing this back in time, about to enjoy the weekend. I found away around Mondays!)

I don't know about you but I could use some music. (I was going to watch some TV, but oh, what the heck, I can always listen to some music. And now we'll be sharing some tunes in two different times. Who said you needed a DeLorean?) Click the Artist\title to view a video on youtube of the song.

Rammstein - Ohne Dich - I'm not the biggest fan of Rammstein, though I do enjoy a few of their songs. A lot of their lyrics can be hard to swallow. Course I'm also not a huge fan of metal. However of their stuff I like, this song comes from what I consider to be one of their best albums. The song itself is very sweet and quite beautiful. I'm not sure if it's true, but I've read that Ohne Dich (without you) was written for the singer's late mother.

Nightwish - Sleeping Sun - More metal, this time from Finland. To be quite honest, I really don't like Nightwish that much at all. The first singer, Tarja Turunen has an absolutely amazing voice. The woman who replaced her a few years back doesn't even compare. Tarja has an operatic range, that begs hearing. The trouble with Nightwish is the music itself to me is like bad 80's metal. That said, Sleeping Sun is a great song. The words are in English, so no worries there. The verses remind me of Evanescence which I'm not too fond of but the chorus... well you'll just have to hear it for yourself.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain - Life on Mars - If you've never heard TUOGB, you have no idea what you've been missing. They are exactly what the name suggests, a group of people with ukuleles performing songs. The ukuleles are in different ranges so they can create complex sounds, and they round it out with an acoustic guitar. You'll be able to dig in right away with the plenteous amount of covers they perform. Life on Mars is of course the David Bowie song. This is actually a medley of various songs. They have other more complex tunes, but this is easily my favorite. Be warned though, this one will get in your head.

  1. I don't know which way is up anymore! What day is today? Should I still be sleeping?

Rammstein is indeed hard to take... I'll have to hear this for myself to believe they have anything worth listening to, because all I remember is growling...

  2. The worst part is that I actually had a crappy weekend. My plan backfired.

  3. The Ukelele Orchestra is great!

The Nightwish song wasn't bad, but I couldn't handle watching her moving her hands so much in the video....

    I Think It's Interesting

  4. Yeah the video annoys me too. She looks awkward, not to mention the whole bathtub thing makes me think of a commercial for ED.
