Battle of the Girly Drinks: Wave 1

Welcome back for another exciting competition. After officiating the last two battles Rep is taking a siesta. The last battle was a brutal slugfest that concluded with different camps still arguing over who really won. But this isn't a democracy. We simply ask you to vote, giving complete power to the people in choosing the winn- oh... The point is, what's done is done. The population has spoken, now it's time to move on.

This battle comes at the suggestion of Pat Tillet, brilliant and funny man that he is. He was curious as to who would win in a themed drink competition. We here at The Non-Review rarely imbibe but when we do we sure love our girly drinks. Naturally we enjoy them while watching kick boxing or strong man competitions, perhaps engaging in talk of war and other manly pursuits. Because when you're done putting up drywall or breaking concrete with a jackhammer, it's nice to come home at the end of the day and unwind with something fruity.

Now then, on to our first competitors:

Sea Breeze
Vs.
Mimosa

Sea Breeze

Where it was 10 years ago: Living the high life with friends and lovers. Drifting from nightclub to nightclub, dancing from dusk till dawn.
Where it sees itself in 10 years: Settled down with 2.5 shots and a strong mug of companionship. Nice house, garden... perhaps a cranberry marsh out back.
Why it thinks you shouldn't vote for Mimosa: It's time to give brunch back to the people!

Mimosa

Where it was 10 years ago: Running a cute little B&B out in the country with its then best friend and wondering how things could be so perfect.
Where it sees itself in 10 years: Still running the B&B but hopefully as an accomplished novelist and world traveler with a passport full of stamps.
Why it thinks you shouldn't vote for Sea Breeze: Grapefruit is just an orange wannabe.

So that's it. Once again the fate lies in your hands. What's that? Don't worry about it. What do you mean? Frankly I think you were a little naive in not knowing that fate was sticky. Hmm? No water won't take that off. Any other questions? No, Tom Wopat is still alive. Anything pertaining to the topic at hand? No? Ok then. Friday will be the last day for voting and then on Saturday we'll dance again but with new partners.

  1. Mimosa for sure. If you say "It's 8am I really could use a beer." People are like WTF.

Replace beer with Mimosa and face no disapproval. Most people will actually join you.

  2. Don't be ridiculous. Mimosa wins. End of discussion.

  3. I am not a drinker, so this will be tough. I say Mimosa though.

  5. Very interesting...If I gotta decide between the two, I'm going for the one with Vodka in it.
More bang for the buck, as it were...

    Sea Breeze...

  6. Hahaha "a cranberry marsh out front." Enjoy your retirement, Sea Breeze! I've never tasted you, but you sound like a treat!

  7. Have to go with Sea Breeze on this one...champage is not really a drink, its just something you sip, vodka you drink, plus you get the added benefit of antioxidents in the cranberry juice :)

  8. I'd have to do a taste test... several times, in order to choose.

  9. i don't drink, but i'm going with sea breeze because i love cranberry juice :)

  10. I gotta go with Sea Breeze. Mimosa appears on brunch menus. I also drink 'em.

  11. I love having a sea breeze after watching a marathon of sex and the city.

    I vote sea breeze.

  12. Mimosa is a Tree!

I'm from Fla and Dad was a Citrus Grower---ummmmmmm-

    Sea-Breeze!!

  13. There is something creepy and wrong about this whole subject but since it's just us guys...Sea breeze with an extra manly shot of Stoli!

  14. Anything with Cranberry juice is an automatic contender for top drink so I have to put my vote in with Brother Breeze. That is, of course, until you bring the bad boy, the 'Zombie' into the mix and he takes it all. I do so love me a Zombie but it has to come out of half a coconut.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Mimosa Breeze for me.

    And I'll have mine in a half-coconut like Cal's.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Mimosa Breeze for me too, please.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, yeah, I'll take one of those Mimosa Breezes as well. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  18. A Mimosa Breeze sounds wonderful. I'll go with that.

    ReplyDelete
  19. John, doesn't that mean you're voting against your father?

Chuck, nothing creepy about admitting to a love of fruity drinks.

Rep, No Jungle Juice mixes. One or t'other.

And Anonymous, nice try, but it's one vote per.

Cal, So your loyalty has already been sworn to the Zombie? Bit too strong for me, though I admire the coconut.

  20. Oh! I am so G-L-A-D, that someone up there brought up the Mimosa Breeze. Ever since I read this post this morning, I've been craving one.

    Mimosa Breeze for me please!

    ReplyDelete
  21. When it takes three Zombies to knock me down where 33 Sea Breezes does the trip the proof is in the pudding.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I get what you're saying Cal, but I also get the feeling you've never tried a Mimosa Breeze or you wouldn't waste your time with Zombies.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Decisions, decisions. Going to have to go with the Mimosa here. Being a bonafide lightweight when it comes to alkeehol, I can drink more of them than I can anything with REAL liquor in it before I start making a complete ass of myself.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Okay, fine. As long as I've already made a fool of myself by posting three times as "anonymous" back to back, with no one noticing, then I suppose I may as well put in a legitimate vote. Sorry TS. It was so much funnier in my head (as are most things).

    I'll go with Sea Breeze.
And now I'm off to have 33 of them.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I want a breezy mimosa or was that a mimosa breeze?

    ReplyDelete
  26. That wasn't me that time. But that breezy mimosa does sound good. I might have to change my vote again.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wasn't me either! You know I'd tell you if it was. The Mimosa Breese is catching on!!! It knew this day would come;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cotton, I have drunken more sea breezes than a man as manly as I should ever admit. I just want to skip all the prelims and go right to the five onces of rum and the coconut glass that will soon be my hat.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I vote Sea Breeze, with a girlie maracchino cherry and a little pink umbrella. Will one of you manly men kindly set that down right next to me, please? Thanks.

  30. Mimosa Breeze! Oooohhhh I haven't had one of those since I got the cute kitty tatooed on my right cheek.

    ReplyDelete
  31. How many Breezes does it take to see that kitty, Dawn?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rep, I commented as to the anonymous votes. I wasn't sure it was you though I did suspect. Course now how am I to believe that the other isn't you? The Rep who called wolf.

Cotton, mimosa breeze wasn't an option. I'm afraid you too must choose. But choose wisely.

Cal, I would gladly witness you downing three zombies so that I could see you wearing a coconut for a hat. It's the original lampshade.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That leaves me on coconut for a hat and the other two to make a coconut bra out of. It's a tropical celebration.

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL Cal! Thanks for the image. haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm not good with Cranberries.... OJ is my best bet.... Mimosa wins....

    ReplyDelete
  36. While both sound like lovely brunch companions, I must choose Mimosa, since grapefruit is, well, disgusting (sorry, Sea Breeze!).

PS - Hi! Yours was my breakfast blog today! Sippin' Tim Hortons...nothing fruity, sadly. :)

  37. I am a Mimosa Breeze person myself.

I consider myself a Mimosa Breeze person too. So one more for that lovely drink.

I love me a warm Mimosa Breeze. Stick it in the microwave for 2 minutes, until it starts bubbling and splashing juice all over the inside, and wow, that's a good 'un. I gots ta vote for that too.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hmmm - on the early side, I'd be inclined toward the Mimosa, but by noon I would move on to the Breeze.

I'm for combining cocktails for more efficient consumption...some kind of Breeze in the bottom, top off with champagne. I think it's official culinary name is the Homeschooling Housewife.

I'll host the party, but whoever messes up the microwave cleans it him/her self.

Does that help with your poll, TS? Because really, we're here to help.

    ReplyDelete
  41. "If you say "It's 8am I really could use a beer." People are like WTF."...snort...especially the kids.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you Cottage, you are so very very helpful. lol

    ReplyDelete
  43. Shenanigan's? How'd you know that's where I had the Mimosa Breeze? Sorry for skewing your poll.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I am not a huge Mimosa fan, but any drink that includes two types of fruit just must lean more towards girlie.

    So I am voting Mimosa.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Vodka can easily turn any girlie drink into the manliest liquid ever born, so I am 100% going with Sea Breeze!
