7 Word Weekend Movie Review: Cars 2, Bad Teacher, and I channel Watson

New Movie Releases Reviewed in 7 Words Each

Bad Teacher - Brain says no, but were not speaking.

Cars 2 - Tagline: At last, a chance to nap.

Conan O'Brien Can't Stop (limited) - Wouldn't that contradict the laws of physics?

I mean it seems like there are forces acting upon his body everyday that will eventually cause him to stop. But I digress (if that were possible in this column which is often one large digression).

When I see the commercials for Bad Teacher, the thinking part of me says 'it's tired' and tries to interest me in something that will grow me as a person. The problem is, I hate growing as a person. I may never have gotten into his music, but outside of that, Justin Timberlake is one funny man. As is Jason Segel, who my affection for has yet to wane. The worry is in the writers, both of whom have worked on The Office, but also Year One, which was a horrible, horrible movie. I just hope that's not indicative of what to expect. I know it's going to be crude, and predictable, but every once in awhile, I like that in a movie.

Cars 2... What to say? I love Pixar. I think they make great movies, not just for kids, but for adults as well. It's a hard line to walk to make something your two year old will enjoy as much as a 45 year old, but they generally walk it perfectly. Cars was an exception. It was without any real worth for anyone over the age of 8. Which is fine. Not every animated film has to have an appeal to adults, but did it really warrant a sequel? I've read some of the reviews that have come out, and they haven't been favorable. For me, I'm going to have put this in the passing lane.

Get it? Passing lane, like in a car...
Hey, no one ever said you came here for classy humor.

Speaking of which, I'm in a weird mood. I've decided to tweet as Watson on twitter today. Sample tweet:

That's how I roll.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. OH I just hate 'Cars'. Obvious redkneck jokes are the selling point? There is nothing lamer than trying to invent a world where motor vehicles are the dominant lifeform. The differences between our world and their's are not clever.

  5. I'm not interested in Cars 2 either.  I don't think I bothered to watch Cars 1.  I really don't care for Cameron Diaz so will probably pass on Bad Teacher too.  Maybe I will rent it?  Anyway, the main reason stopped by right now was to say thanks for the sweet comments on my blog.  I appreciate you saying them.  HUGS!  Have a good weekend

  7. TS, one of my young friends from church has just started a blog.  His sense of humor and command of verbiage remind me of you, so I thought you might enjoy his blog.

If you decide to visit, tell him I sent you.  Bless his heart, right now I'm his only follower.

Thanks for the reviews, as always.  :)  I will probably watch Bad Teacher and Cars 2 when they come out in DVD.  It's gotta be a really GOOD movie to make me go and endure seat kickers and texters at the theater anymore.
