The Inbetweeners, Cold Light of Day Explained, And Cats: 7 Word Weekend

New Movie Releases Reviewed in 7 Words Each

The Cold Light of Day - I prefer the warm kind of light.

The Inbetweeners (limited) - Accept no generic, watered down, MTV substitutes.

The Words - Feeling... Confused... Want... See... A Cooper film?!

[REC] 3: Genesis (limited) - This is going to be a thing?

I think there should be a service where you can have a kitten -or puppy should that be your preference- mailed to you. When you're done, simply put them in the envelope and await the delivery of the next one in your queue. I would so subscribe to Petflix.

The Inbetweeners film came out last year in the UK, meant to put a cap on the absolutely fantastic series. It's out in limited release this week finally. I... May have already seen it... Before it was available here, and specifically without being in another country. Yes, I'm bad, hypocritical, and all the other stuff. But there was never any guarantee it would make the leap stateside. I've been burned by not living in the UK before. If you've never seen the show, it's a very crude, wincingly painful, look into the lives of four teenage boys. It's very funny, but it pulls no punches. The characters are great and each will remind you of someone you knew (or possibly were) at that age. The movie tries to be a standalone, and it is pretty good by itself, but it's much improved if you've seen the show.

MTV has launched their own version with the blessing of the original creators but it's disappointing at best. Scared of truly offending anyone, everything feels like a watered down glass of sugarless Kool-aide.

I could go through and do the rest of the films, but I'm mentally not there after being sick a good part of the beginning of the week. So to finish out the reviews are some cats.

'Sir Reginald Plumperdink'
"Cold Light of Day is like what happens when I wake to find no one has filed my food dish. You know it better as my butt planted on your chest, and my nose in your face."

'??????'
"...Erum, mew. Listen, we're all God's cats, right baby? Now why don't we turn off the movies and go grab some grub... Or a worm?"

'The Duchess Gary Cooper'
"I just want it on record that I'm not related to Bradley Cooper in anyway. He looks like he'd be sticky. However, I like words, so I'm interested in the film."

'Melvin'
"Not that there's any particular reason, but you may want to consider replacing your hat, and gloves... And toaster."

So what are your plans this weekend?

  2. For once I go to make a comment before the whole gang has arrived. No Kal, no Pat, an empty board. @Stake? Missing.

Can I ... could it be ... yes ... I can leave my witty, clever, poignant remark and leave nothing left for anyone else.

Everyone would look at my genius with envy.

But now ... all I can say is ... ditto Alex.
