Weekend Movie Discussion: Dark Skies, Snitch

I gotta tell you, I laugh every time the commercial for Dark Skies comes on. The cut of the kid looking like he's being possessed is such a silly looking shot it just screams make fun of me. It also looks like the only part of the film that would be entertaining. Zing.

There's also Snitch out this weekend. Inspired by true... Events... And... Z..Zz.....Top.

Basically it looks like Dwayne Johnson doing the kind of generic movies Dwayne Johnson does in between the good Dwayne Johnson films. *Sigh* I miss when he was just the Rock. I also miss the days when wrestling meant something. Ha ha ha, just kidding, I've never liked wrestling. I remember in middle school the coach kept trying to get me to join the team. But I refused purely on the basis of the outfits. I hear they're cutting the event from the Olympics in a few years from now. Looks like I recognized a sinking ship when I saw one.

If I were a betting man I'd wager that last paragraph could be offensive to the following groups: Wrestling fans, Dwayne Johnson fans, fans of nicknames, and rats. If they weren't all dead I'd add in Titanic survivors to that list. All the Titanic survivors are dead now right? I think I read that somewhere. According to the rules of Final Destination they all should be anyway. Sometimes it's a speeding bus, sometimes it's being 100+ years old. Anyway you cut it, Rose is for sure long gone. Her heart ain't going on no mo'.

I guess that last paragraph could be considered offensive to the offspring of late Titanic survivors, and possibly horror film fans. I'll have to think about that one. I think Kate Winslet fans are alright with that one, but I'm definitely on the grammar Nazis list with that last sentence. I'd hate to think how many groups could be offended by the sentence before this one.

Best if we move on, get back to movies and hopefully heal some of these rifts. Wait, that's it for this weeks releases? Okay...

Oh, I forgot last week to mention Escape From Planet Earth was also released last weekend. Sorry if I offended any EFPE fans out there.

What are your plans this weekend?

  1. I'm totally offended by everything. Well...not really but it just seemed like the thing to say. I'm not interested in these movies. I almost went to see EFPE last weekend with my kids but the times didn't work out. I'm not sure if that is a bad thing or a good thing. What do you think?
    have a great weekend. Stacy

  5. I'm a little late! My plans were to drive our RV across the desert into Arizona. What I didn't know was that there were going to be high wind advisories on our entire route. Not fun...

  6. I have to admit, those movie names mean nothing to me ... so I didn't really follow that. But I really enjoyed the nonsensical rambling, and I think I followed that perfectly.
