Weekend Movie Discussion: The Wolverine, The To Do List

W stands for Wolverine.

...Also Wallace Washington's wet, woolly, winter weather-wear. But that's neither here nor there as to the best of my knowledge, such a film has yet to be made, and at any rate is certainly not being featured this weekend. Not in theaters anyway.

The Wolverine though is. Sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine (an unnecessary entry into the series). Wolverine is my second favorite superhero, but the movies have been so-so. The first three X-Men films are entertaining in their own way, but are, when you cut down to it, not good movies. After the surprisingly fantastic X-Men: First Class, my hopes for better films moving forward have been raised (cautiously optimistic, rather than anticipatory for the next X-Men film, due to Bryan Singer, soul sucker's return to the helm). Now if Logan and Jean Valjean perform a duet during the opening credits, all my worries will instantly dissolve.

Oh yeah, and then this happened:

My favorite quote from the cartoons.

Also out this weekend is the Aubrey Plaza vehicle, The To Do List. It's got a pretty stellar cast but is, from what I've seen, a standard sex comedy setup. I've heard it's pretty raunchy. While that doesn't necessarily disparage me from seeing a film, other than a few funny actors, there's really nothing appealing about it to me. To each their own, but I'll be passing.

Guess That Movie

Last Week: Alex once again guessed correctly, as did David Walston, and the ever clever and "anonymous" guest who likes to use the character's name from films to answer the questions. Long Kiss Goodnight is an action comedy that stars Gena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson.

This Week:

So what are your plans for the weekend? Going to tangle with a (6) pack of wolverines? Want to relive your high school days when you know you weren't doing a tenth of the crap they put in movies? Do you believe in magic cheese?

  2. I'm on the fence about The Wolverine. The reviews have been good, but the last one was garbage. Magic cheese does exist!

  3. The Wolverine will have to wait for me, I have Honey Do's that are overdue.

  4. I will see that movie! Probably not for a long time though. This weekend is reserved for doing all the crap I don't do around here when we're on the road.

    Fantastic.

Also I somehow missed any previews/knowledge of that To Do List movie.
