Chapter - 1 - Meow I Began
I was the runt of the litter when I was born. While some kittens maybe welcomed into the world with fanfare and a silver collar around their neck, my existence was not so well received. My mother was a pure breed who had fallen in love with a hepcat. Shunned by her previous owner when she turned up one night pregnant with me and my siblings, she moved in with my father. He was a great musician who played every night on the local fence. He was however, far from ready for the responsibility of seven kids.
From the start my siblings wanted nothing to do with me. Always trying to exclude me at supper time, and squeezing me out of primo sleeping spots. While I may have been born blind, I could see clear enough that I wasn't wanted. Those first few weeks I fought for my right to exist. Never underestimate how the heart of someone can overcome great physical difficulties. It wasn't long before I was a young kitten full of strength and curiosity. It was this curiosity that would lead me, at the tender age of 6 months, away from my family, and into the unknown.
